Cinnamon Roll Cookies | She Paused 4 Thought

I belong to a wonderful group of food bloggers here in LA and our annual Christmas Cookie Exchange is one of the highlights. Thanks Erika from In Erika’s Kitchen for hosting this fun day.

I was looking for a unique cookie to bring and stumbled upon this recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction. Cookies are not my forte so I have to call on expert help, and Sally is an expert.

Today’s Recipe: Cinnamon Roll Cookies

I had every ingredient on hand for these cookies, and you’ll likely have them on hand too, because they’re basic and simple. You’ll agree that this is a huge bonus – there was no shopping required. The recipe makes a basic sugar cookie dough that you roll out and brush with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

Potato Palooza 2015 | She Paused 4 Thought

Did you know February is potato-lover’s month? Well that was news to me as well (as if I need a reason to eat more potatoes). I learned about this at the 2015 Potato Palooza Party sponsored by Don Odiorne of the Idaho Potato Commission and hosted by Erika Kerekes of In Erika’s Kitchen & Judy Lyness of Two Broads Abroad.

Individual dishes were cleverly coordinated with a holiday, reminding us of the potato’s year round availability. Continue Reading →

“BOO”Berry Truffles

Boo-Berry Truffles | She Paused 4 Thought

I am not a Halloween lover. I can pass out over a cut on my finger, let alone looking at gory bloody body parts, zombies and such. So why am I posting something for Halloween? My Food Blogger Los Angeles group decided Halloween would be a good theme for this month’s meeting. Continue Reading →

Baby Hedgehog Cookies

Baby Hedgehog Cookies | She Paused 4 Thought

I don’t think I have seen anything cuter than a baby hedgehog. Their awesome adorableness has inspired many a great writer, including Shakespeare. He mentions them in The Tempest and Midsummer Night’s Dream, and refers to them as “hedgepigs” and “urchins.” He used poetic license – the proper name for a baby hedgehog is a hoglet!

I didn’t think anyone would want to eat “Hoglet Cookies”, “Hedgepig Cookies” or “Urchin Cookies” so I stayed with “Baby Hedgehog Cookies” for today’s recipe.

Here is the difference between a non-edible and edible hedgehog.

Chiang Mai Chicken on Endive Spears

Chiang Mai Chicken | She Paused 4 Thought

Recently I was invited to a lunch cooked by Chef Katie Chin, an Asian food expert, cookbook author, TV host and food blogger. The meal was wonderful and Katie was absolutely delightful. She taught us the basics of Thai cooking and how easy it is to bring Thai flavors into our own kitchens.
